Napoli make contact for Verona’s Marco Davide Faraoni

Napoli are interested in signing Verona skipper Marco Davide Faraoni and they have initiated contact to sign the 31-year-old this summer.

Giovanni di Lorenzo is close to signing a new deal at Napoli but with Bartosz Bereszyński having returned to Sampdoria from his loan stint at the Partenopei, Napoli are looking for a back-up right-back for Di Lorenzo.

Marco Conterio has reported that Faraoni is seen as that player and contacts with his entourage have already been made by the Serie A Champions. Verona are aware of Napoli’s keen interest in the player, who is seen as an experienced and reliable by Rudi Garcia’s side.

Faraoni has played 152 times for Verona since he joined the club from Crotone in 2019. He is also the captain of the Gialloblu – something which should impress Napoli more. He has previously had one stint in England, having plied his trade with Watford in the 2013/14 campaign.
