Napoli’s Victor Osimhen on Premier League interest: “I have Chelsea & Man United jerseys”

Napoli star Victor Osimhen has, on Monday, provided a fresh insight into his future amidst links with a host of other clubs.

The subject of frontman Osimhen’s long-term plans has of course long taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Naples. This comes with a whole host of European football’s top clubs understood to be keeping a close eye on the Nigerian’s situation.

Not only that, but the recent fallout between club and player, owing to a bizarre drama originating on TikTok, is expected to push Osimhen towards the exit door.

Speaking earlier today, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his future was put to the 24-year-old once more.

During a discussion with former Chelsea and Nigeria star John Obi Mikel on The Obi One podcast (via CN24), Osimhen was drawn on a whole host of topics, not least long-standing links to the Premier League.

With Chelsea one landing spot long tipped in the media, Mikel, in turn, went as far as to assure that his fellow countryman is soon ‘gonna come’ to Stamford Bridge:

“Next season, I know you’re gonna come to Chelsea man! I’m telling you, I’m gonna be the agent to broker that deal. I’m gonna make sure that happens. We are crying out for someone like you — since Drogba left the club”.

And Osimhen did not do all that much to play down such links, in admitting that he possesses both Chelsea and Manchester United jerseys, whilst viewing the Premier League as European football’s best:

“I don’t have a favourite PL team but I’ve two jerseys: Chelsea and Man United. Many friends of mine are Chelsea fans, few are Man Utd fans. Premier League is the most appreciated league by every African player — it’s a huge league.”
