Newcastle close to reaching agreement with Milan for Sandro Tonali

Premier League side Newcastle United are close to reaching an agreement with Milan over a move for midfielder Sandro Tonali.

The Athletic’s James Horncastle has reported that the Rossoneri and Newcastle are close to agreeing a fee of about €70million for the Italy international and Eddie Howe would soon be landing his top midfield target.

Earlier today, it was reported that Milan already rejected Newcastle’s initial approach but another offer could not be ruled out. Tonali’s entourage was in London today to discuss personal terms and his agent Giuseppe Riso was in Milan to talk to the Rossoneri higher-ups about the player and interest from the Magpies.

It seems as concrete progress has been made, with Horncastle reporting that face-to-face talks were held today, bringing about some movement in the saga which has grown unexpectedly over the last day.

It was reported earlier today that only a massive wage offer from the English side would tempt the midfielder into heading to Newcastle.
