Newcastle United are reportedly interested in Torino centre-back Perr Schuurs, having brought in Sven Botman last summer and they could now add another Dutch defender to their ranks in the upcoming transfer window.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Newcastle are willing to make Torino an offer for Schuurs. However, it will not be easy to convince Torino owner Urbano Cairo to sell the 23-year-old. Schuurs arrived from Ajax last summer for a figure around €14 million and Di Marzio reports that Cairo wants at least twice of that amount.Â
Schuurs himself also seems to be interested in a move to the Premier League club. In addition to Newcastle, Liverpool have had their sights on him for a while. Schuurs has impressed many in Italy with solid performances for 11th placed Torino. He has played 23 league matches, in which he has given 2 assists as well. At Torino, Schuurs plays in a three-man-defense under Ivan Juric and he is known to be quite quick across the ground and he is strong aerially.
