Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund made initial contact to understand about the possibility of taking over Serie A clubs Juventus, Roma and Inter.
PIF have been linked with potentially taking over other European sides, with their time at Newcastle United going splendidly well. Marco Conterio has reported that PIF made contact over the last few months to evaluate potential takeovers of clubs in the Serie A.
Emissaries from PIF made contact with Juve, Roma and Inter to understand the accounts and financial situations of those three sides. PIF later refused to deepen contacts and they have now decided to not invest in any major clubs and divert a lot of the available funds towards the Saudi Pro League and that is why Roma’s new sponsor is aimed at publicising the 2023 Expo in Riyadh instead of investing fully in improving the Giallorossi.
If anything, PIF’s plan is to invest in a club that offers a similar amount of potential as Newcastle United while being a low-cost investment.Â
