Roma going cold in move for Alvaro Morata

Serie A side Roma are becoming pessimistic in pursuing the signing of Atletico Madrid’s Alvaro Morata and could soon give up on the chase.

According to a report by Marco Conterio, the tracks linking Roma with Alvaro Morata have cooled down in recent times as the Giallorossi are reluctant to pay the release clause.

Atletico Madrid have imposed a €20 million release clause in the contract of Alvaro Morata and the figure seems financially unreasonable for Jose Mourinho’s club. The Colchoneros are not looking to negotiate in order to lower that and their present stance is waving away the firm interest from the Italian side.

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has emphasised that the striker is happy to continue with his club and this statement is now questioning the claim of Morata to return to the Serie A.

Roma are a bit tied with financial constraints and as things stand, they won’t be able to finance a permanent transfer of the 30-year-old Spaniard. Jose Mourinho has shifted his attention to seeking a loan deal for either of Patson Daka, Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Gianluca Scamacca.
