Sassuolo close to signing Nice’s Mattia Viti

Sassuolo are close to bringing back Mattia Viti to Serie A. OGC Nice are willing to loan the Italian defender to the team from Emilia Romagna.

The 21-year-old Viti joined Nice last summer, when the French side payed €13M to Empoli for the defender’ services. He featured 27 times for Empoli before moving to the south of France. Now, after only 9 Ligue 1 appearances, Nice are close to loaning Viti back to the Italian top flight. Sassuolo is the team interested in bringing him back to Italy, according to Sky Sport. Negotiations are going well and Sassuolo is very close to completing Viti’s return to Italy.

At Sassulo, Viti would be reunited with his former coach Alessio Dionisi. Viti would be a much needed reinforcement in the Neroverdi defence. Only Salernitana, Spezia, Cremonese and Sampdoria condeded more goals than Sassuolo (61). 3 out of those 4 teams were relegated to Serie B. At Sassuolo, Viti could essentially relaunch his career.
