Premier League outfit Tottenham have emerged as the most interested party in securing the services of Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny.
According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Polish goalkeeper will look for newer pastures if the financial indictments currently faced by his current club, Juventus, stretch through to the end of the season. Szczesny’s present contract with the Bianconeri ends in the summer of 2024 (with an option to extend for another year) and recently appeared for the 200th time in between the sticks for Juventus.
The report claims that the 32-year-old hasn’t conveyed any signs of farewell officially but several European clubs including front-runners Tottenham are monitoring the player’s situation. Szczesny possesses the experience to play in the Premier League as he was the goalkeeper of Arsenal for around four years. If Spurs gets through with the transfer, the player would arrive in different colours but it would be in the same North London area which he left for Italy.
Juventus are aware of their first-choice goalie’s situation and have lined up a few potential targets including Empoli’s Guglielmo Vicario who is the favourite and Gianluigi Donnarumma but this one seems like a far-fetched one.
