Victor Osimhen’s new deal at Napoli expected to take time

News today that all Napoli fans will like to hear is that Victor Osimhen is staying in Naples, for this season at least. This is the latest from Il Mattino (via TMW), and the word of Aurelio De Laurentiis is that Osimhen, who is being courted by Saudi Arabia, will remain at Napoli.

The Nigerian striker’s contract runs through until 2025, but Napoli want to tie him down to a new deal. The problem is Osimhen’s salary. He is asking for between €10 million to €12 million a season, and the club are hesitant to oblige.

There have been continuous meetings between Napoli and Osimhen’s agent Roberto Calenda, but they are yet to have reached an agreement. The first round of Serie A games kick off on Saturday the 19th of August, and it is unlikely that a resolution will be reached by then. Having already lost Kim Min-Jae, Napoli cannot afford to lose another star player.
