Former coach of Juventus’ Matias Soule reveals youngster is a ‘Premier League player’

The former coach of Serie A side Frosinone’s Matias Soule has addressed the reasons why the player rejected advances from Saudi Arabia and stayed to fight in Italy, while also stating that he could end up in the Premier League.

Speaking in an interview with TuttoJuve.com via TMW, Matias Soule’s former coach during his time at Club Atletico Kimberley, Ignacio Mendez explained the grounds behind the 20-year-old’s rejection of playing for one of Saudi Arabian clubs at such a young age. The Frosinone winger received a high-value offer from Saudi Arabia a few weeks ago but he was quick to decline it for the sake of advancing his career in Europe.

When asked about whether the player’s decision surprised him, Mendez stated: “No! First of all, I didn’t know it, and secondly, it doesn’t surprise me because he had principles from a very young age. And I’m not just referring to football. Imagine that he stayed at Juventus to fight, knowing that he could go to another country and decided not to go there. Mati is ambitious and always tries to progress but by playing with the ball. This last thing makes him really happy.”

Mendez further commented that he sees Soule’s future in the Premier League as his profile perfectly suits that of playing in the dynamic environment of England. He said: “For me, Matias is a Premier League player: for his way of playing, for his dynamism, for his speed. It would be a great growth for his football.”
