Interview I Journalist Simone Togna ahead of Inter vs Juventus: “The key to the match will be patience”

Whilst a great deal of magnitude surrounds this evening’s Derby D’Italia between Inter and Juventus, the Get Italian Football News team had FcInterNews journalist Simone Togna provide his insight regarding the pivotal league fixture at the Stadio San Siro.

As it stands, the Nerazzurri find themselves at the summit of the league with a single point separating themselves, whilst possessing a game in-hand. A victory for the Beneamata on Milanese soil would enable coach Simone Inzaghi’s side to move four points clear of the Old Lady. On the other hand, the Bianconeri seizing all three points away from home would allow Juventus to leap two points above Inter, keeping themselves well within reach of the scudetto.

In the first fixture between both sides this seasom, both Italian giants shared spoils in a 1-1 draw, which tight, rigid, and high risk management affair between the two clubs.

Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic seized the opening goal at the Allianz in courtesy of a fine delivery from Adrien Rabiot, which emerged from a costly error by Denzel Dumfries.

However, the Nerazzurri responded swiftly as Lautaro Martinez tucked the ball in the back of the net, finishing off an eye-catching counter attack where Frenchman Marcus Thuram demonstrated his individual brilliance in full display to set up the Argentine.

With minuscule details possibly making an enormous difference in a match that can sincerely alter the race of the league title, Simone provided his perspective of what will be the key for Inter to attain all three points against a challenging Juventus side:

“Finally, the affair between Inter and Juventus is back to being a championship match!” Togna commenced. “The key to the match will be patience. I imagine that Inter will start strong and Juve will wait behind. In this case, however, the points count, not the performance. And you can score the winning goal in any minute of the game. I expect a tight match, decided by a series of exciting episodes”

In addition, Togna touched upon the maturity and growth of coach Simone Inzaghi since being appointed as the tactician of Inter two seasons ago, and what has changed in his tactical set up in order for his success in cup competitions to translate into the league.

Inter have only lost a single match in the 2023/24 Serie A term thus far, remain unbeaten away from home with a record of nine wins and two losses , and have not lost a match against any of the “big six” within the top-flight Italian league as it currently stands.:

“Inzaghi’s Inter achieved the best results in Europe against the top 10 of their respective championship. This means that against strong team, the Nerazzurri demonstrate their strength perfectly.

“Two seasons ago, on a subconscious level, Inter thought that one way or another they would win the Scudetto. Then, a series of combinations and episodes unfavorable to the Nerazzurri and favorable to Milan saw the Rossoneri triumph.

“Inzaghi has improved in communication and in understanding that sometimes a point can be good because you take 2 away from the opponents (if it had happened in the derby 2 years ago, Inter would probably have won the scudetto)”
