Napoli CEO Aurelio De Laurentiis confirms new stadium plans for the club

Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis has revealed plans to make a new stadium for the club in the future. 

In an interview recorded by Gianluca Di Marzio, Aurelio De Laurentiis apprised the journalists that Napoli are set to move to a new stadium in 2027. The Partenopei have failed to defend the Scudetto after winning it last season but their performances have not hindered the internal progress of moving to a new stadium.

Building a new home stadium takes a lot of financial resources and De Laurentiis believes that the club have the necessary funds to continue with the project. They are expected to start working on the stadium to be inaugurated in Bagnoli city of Naples, a few miles away from where the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona stands. The Neapolitans CEO said: “New stadium in Bagnoli in 2027, we could inaugurate it on 15 July.”

De Laurentiis also claimed that they will start working on it in 18 months time and will finish the project within the stipulated period. He said: “We will start with the works in 18 months.”

The new stadium is set to conform with the necessities of the modern football fan and a sports city will be built which would contain “12 pitches” according to the club president.
