Roma renewal drive: Gian Piero Gasperini identifies four priority contracts

Serie A side Roma head coach Gian Piero Gasperini pushes the club to prioritise renewing the contracts of Paulo Dybala, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Zeki Çelik and Stephan El Shaarawy.

According to a report by Sky Italia via TMW, Dybala, Pellegrini, Çelik, and El Shaarawy’s contracts are set to be considered for renewal on an urgent basis in the coming days as Gasperini aims to keep his key players for Roma’s future project.

The sacking of former Senior Advisor Claudi Ranieri and the imminent departure of Frederic Massara have enabled Gasperini to exercise his authority over player renewals and signings for now. While Çelik and El Shaaraway have always expressed their desire to continue with the Giallorossi, Dybala and Pellegrini’s futures remained uncertain, but are now set to make a turnaround.

Gasperini met with club owner Ryan Friedkin recently to determine the future of the team regarding new faces, current player deals and the direction with which he intends to take the stride into next season.

The Italian coach voiced his opinion on the importance of signings and squad depth in a recent press conference, “I’m sorry people think this is a sixth-placed team. Perhaps with a little more support and reinforcements, this team would have achieved greater heights.”
