Napoli close to losing two big names, including Barcelona-linked Kalidou Koulibaly

Napoli’s financial struggles have deterred the club’s skyrocketing ambitions once again, with Kalidou Koulibaly and Fabian Ruiz linked with a move away from the club.

According to Il Mattino, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has failed in his attempt to convince Kalidou Koulibaly to stay at the club.

The defender currently earns an annual salary of €6.5million net per year. But he has been proposed to spread his wage over a four-year contract, which the agent of the player has declined.

Fali Ramadani, Koulibaly’s agent, has understandably made contact with the representatives of Barcelona and Juventus over a potential move for his client this summer. As for Napoli, it is believed that they don’t wish to push their financial boundaries. Otherwise, they would not be able to build a formidable team for the next campaign.

The report further understands that Fabian Ruiz might follow Koulibaly into leaving the club in the summer. While the defender has a contract with the Partenopei until June 2023, Ruiz’s contract runs out this summer.

It is indicated that neither player is optimistic about finding an agreement over a contract renewal at Napoli. In terms of interest, Real Madrid have been keeping an eye on the Spanish midfielder for a long time.
