Fabian Ruiz dreams of Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid amid Napoli’s renewal offer

Napoli are determined to keep hold of Fabian Ruiz, who doesn’t want to commit his future to the Italian club’s cause and wishes to return to Spain.

As reported by Il Mattino, Napoli, having grown exasperated with the situation regarding Fabian Ruiz’s contract renewal, have set an ultimatum for the Spaniard. The report understands that if Ruiz doesn’t sign an extension with the Naples-based club sooner rather than later, he could be thrown on the bench next season.

The 26-year-old’s terms with Napoli will expire in June 2023, meaning his contract will soon enter its last twelve months. As it stands, the midfielder could leave the Serie A club on a free transfer next summer.

The Partenopei have offered a new contract until 2026 to the Spanish midfield maestro. Nevertheless, Ruiz has no intention of signing the contract extension at Napoli. Instead, he wants to return to his homeland. He is reportedly dreaming of a move to Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid this summer.

Although several European clubs are seemingly interested in the midfielder, only a few small proposals have arrived on the table of the Italian club for Ruiz so far. Napoli want a figure of around €30-40million to let go of the 26-year-old in the summer.

On the other hand, he could either sign a contract renewal with his current club or end up spending the next season on the bench, potentially marking a harsh end to his Napoli career.
