Giovanni Carnevali on Sassuolo’s Davide Frattesi: “We have requests from the Premier League”

Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali has revealed that the club has several requests from Premier League clubs for midfielder Davide Frattesi.

The Italian has been heavily linked with a move to Roma in recent days, with the Giallorossi looking to sign him on a cash plus player deal in January. It has been reported that Sassuolo are open to selling the midfielder this winter.

Carnevali recently spoke to Sky Italia as he was present on the sidelines during Sassuolo’s friendly game against Inter. He talked about the situation of Frattesi, stating that English clubs have come forward but the neroverdi’s relations with Roma are also excellent.

He stated: “We have requests from the Premier League for Frattesi. We have an excellent relationship with Roma and we value the players who come from that nursery. Every year we have to pay attention to the balance sheets and we have to sell our best players.”

He also spoke about Sassuolo’s winter transfer window in general and whether offers have come in for other players as well.

“It will be a long and difficult month. There are some requests for some players, our desire is to try to maintain an important squad and not sell players like Frattesi in this transfer market session. We’ll stay at the window, we’ll see what opportunities there will be. Today we are more attentive to signings than to sales, with the desire to insert some young players. Then we will evaluate what could be done about Frattesi or others.”

In the summer, Sassuolo had sold Gianluca Scamacca to West Ham amidst links with Paris Saint-Germain. Giacomo Raspadori had joined Napoli, whereas Jeremie Boga had joined Atalanta in January 2022. The Neroverdi have been a selling club for some years now.
