Inter’s Marotta on Ivan Perisic’s Tottenham move: “He wanted to try a new experience.”

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has revealed that Ivan Perisic wanted to try a new experience in the Premier League, as he seems close to a move to Tottenham.

Perisic is already in London and he was expected to undergo a medical ahead of a move to Spurs, where Antonio Conte wanted him. He leaves Inter on a free transfer.

Marotta was at the L’Amico Atletico” event of the Cardinaletti Onlus Foundation in Milan and he spoke about Perisic while talking to TMW. He said: “We are sorry, but he wanted to try a new experience in the Premier League. We were not in a position to present better offers, simply because his choice was based on a different future than the current one. Maximum respect for this also a big thank you. We will find the right replacement and, in any case, we have already taken Robin Gosens.”

Marotta also addressed the talk about Inter trying to sign both Romelu Lukaku and Paulo Dybala in the same transfer window.

He stated: “Dybala and Lukaku? On our part there is no anxiety, we do not have to do anything in a hurry. Something we have certainly already done in advance, trying to play ahead of time. It takes creativity and courage in taking certain actions.”
