Milan move at risk as Newcastle United make fresh attempt to hijack Sven Botman

Milan have agreed on personal terms with Sven Botman. But a move has not gone through as Lille are taking time before sanctioning the sale of the Dutchman.

According to Daniele Longo, Newcastle United have returned to the Lille office with an offer much higher than what Milan have submitted for the 22-year-old.

Although Lille have not made any decision on the matter yet, it is suggested that the higher valuation could persuade the French club’s resolution and lead the English club to find a better position in the transfer battle.

In the January transfer window, Newcastle were reportedly interested in signing Botman, who later rebuffed the proposal, somewhat suggesting that he would like to move to Milan and play with his ex-Lille teammate Mike Maignan.

It was reported last April that Milan were close to signing Botman for a deal of around €33 million, including various bonuses.

As per the reports in England, the Magpies wanted to land Diego Carlos but missed out on his signature as the Brazilian confirmed his summer move to Aston Villa from Sevilla.

As a result, Newcastle have grown desperate in their attempt to bring a centre-back, which doesn’t represent promising signs for the Rossoneri.
