Roma interested in Manchester Utd’s Nemanja Matic and Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Roma are interested in Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic and Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is also seen as an option.

La Gazzetta dello Sport have reported that Jose Mourinho wants a regista in this team and he would like Matic in his team, with the Serbian set to leave Man United in the summer. The issue around Matic is that he earns €5 million per season and that might be more than the Giallorossi can afford.

Years ago, when Walter Sabatini was the Roma sporting director, he had more than a bit of interest in the then-Benfica man, but Chelsea brought him back to London. The midfielder is still interested in moving to the Serie A and that would be a key part of the discussion and talks between Roma and the midfielder’s entourage have already been held.

Juventus were also linked with a move for Matic, but the rumours were later denied by the Italian media.

If a move for Matic doesn’t work out, other targets would already be in the shortlist. One of those is Sassuolo’s Maxime Lopez and Granit Xhaka from Arsenal. Tottenham’s Hojbjerg is also a concrete option and Mourinho likes the Dane quite a lot. But the drawback there is that the ex-Southampton man is valued at €40 million.
