Serie A PREVIEW | Torino vs Juventus

Juventus seem to be jumping from one disaster to another recently, out of the frying pan and into the fire. Lurching from low point to lower point, however their lowest came midweek in a 2-0 loss to Maccabi Haifa in the Champions League.

Following their humiliation in Europe, Juve come home to take on city rivals Torino in the Derby Della Mole. This edition of the derby has rather more riding on it than usual, with both teams sitting only two points apart, a Torino win will move them above their neighbours.

The fallen giants sit in eighth after nine games, recording their worst start to the season in several years, and remain 10 points adrift of the high-flying league leaders Napoli. The Bianconeri have lost five of their last eight games in all competitions and have yet to win away from home in Serie A this season.

What might give Juventus faith of kickstarting their season will be that Torino have only won two of their last 12 home games and currently remain on a four game winless run. Its arguable that the biggest hurdle in this game for Torino, will be the aura around the derby as for so long Juventus ruled not only Turin but Italian football in general.

Team News

Torino come into this game with a clean bill of health and Ivan Juric seems likely to name an unchanged XI from last weeks draw against Empoli.

Juventus will be without Angel Di Maria who picked up an injury midweek which rules him out currently until November, he joins Paul Pogba and Federico Chiesa in the treatment room, both of which are thought to be nearing availability in the next month or so. Mattia de Sciglio is also ruled out after picking up a thigh injury.

Predicted XI’s

Torino XI

Milinkovic-Savic; Djidji, Schuurs, Rodriguez; Aina, Lukic, Linetty, Lazaro; Miranchuk, Vlasic, Sanabria

Juventus XI

Szczesny; Danilo, Bonucci, Bremer, Sandro; Cuadrado, Paredes, Rabiot, Kostic; Vlahovic, Milik

The derby sees both teams in horrible form, however a win could be what both sides need to ignite some decent form. Will Juventus pick up a much needed win, or will Torino put themselves in position to become the new kings of Turin?
